I’m Fine

Hi, I’m the guy from the Catcher in the Rye.
My name is Holden Caulfield, I stay up till late in the night,
Talking to strangers, every now and then I’m picking a fight,
Out of fright I’m randomly calling up my friends.
I get depressed when I see couples in the street
Being happy, laughing, holding hands.

Look at me, I’m Sandra Dee,
Lousy with insecurity,
I overthink,
Overshare,
I chase after men who show me, they don’t care,
And I console myself saying “hey at least I’m aware”.

Oh crap, I’ve become Bridget Jones,
Feeling alone,
Eating cheap chocolate at home,
And when I’m overwhelmed, I don’t journal,
but I’ll write you a heartfelt poem.
I’m listening to sad songs,
Constantly overanalysing my own wrongs.
And although I’m super outgoing and artsy,
I’ll always be the weird friend at every party.

I’ve stepped into the shoes of Carrie Bradshaw.
Clinging on to the last straw - of my sanity,
Indulging in materialistic vanity,
Shopping, traveling, spending money to escape reality.
Why am I surrounded by plenty people who love me deeply,
Yet, too blind to see all the wonderful things happening for me?
Hi, I’m Elena.
At the moment I feel like my own traitor.
For a long time, I’ve been bathing in self-doubts.
Lately, I was even avoiding poetry crowds,
Since writing forces, you to confront yourself.
Don’t worry, I’m fine,
I’ve finally managed to get some help.
