Black Swan

The ring you gave me cracked.
Tiny pieces of shiny crystals laying scattered on the floor.
And I smile, realizing that I don’t feel like fixing something
Undeniably defect anymore.

I wore your ring at my first poetry performance
To prove to myself mentally
That I won’t let anyone break me.
Not even someone I love beyond rationality.

I won the slam while your heavy metal was resting
Lightly on my finger.
Others might never understand this lingering sensation,
But when you read this, I know you’ll comprehend how
At that very moment I felt complete closure
from this reckless relation.

A black swan remains a black swan.
It might fold its wings for a while,
It might even lose a couple of crystals,
But the more you push it to the edge,
the higher it will fly RISE.

When I lifted my head again,
I met someone I might risk to pursue.
I hope you also healed
And found the person who is meant for you.
