How is it that everything that’s supposed to be right is bad for us? How can glitter be so mesmerising yet so destructive for our environment? And while all those microplastics float through our oceans, I lie awake till dawn. Have you ever seen those shapes in the dark? You might have frightened me back then my friend, but now I know who you are. Before I fall asleep, I count all the sheep on the meadows, on the realms, on the farms. Before I fall asleep, I have flashbacks to the days when I used to wonder how candy could be so sweet and yet so destructive for your teeth and how I was so naïve to believe that people will stay if you try hard enough. How come we spend so much time watching series on Amazon Prime even though we complain all our lives about how it is a crime to waste our time with banalities, with TV, with a notebook in our hands? How come it is okay to rot away all day? Working till we are so old that we turn wrinkled and bold, till we can’t even control our bladder. And when the circle of life closes and we become babies again, I will regret that I gave you everything I had and yet you turned out to be, so dangerous, so treacherous, so hazardous, so toxic for me. © Elena Natroshvili IG: 16minutepoetry
